After a period of incubation, painter Vu Thai Binh – a familiar name associated with the art of watercolor painting on traditional do paper, opened “Do space” at 51 Hoang Ngan (Nhan Chinh), Thanh Xuan, Hanoi) to welcome the art-loving public.

“Do space” as the name implied is a place that completely belongs to do. That is the result, the reunion of painter Vu Thai Binh and friends with the same idea. A Doctor of Science, lecturer at Coventry University (UK) spent 2 years traveling to 70 countries around the world. He travels a lot and always continues his journey of discovery.

Architect Doan Van Tuan, who designed and directed the construction of the architecture and construction works, simply said: “I have simply done one thing, which is to feel and turn the reality of Vu Thai Binh’s painting into my architectural dream.”

Regarding the idea of ​​implementing “Do Space “, painter Vu Thai Binh shared: “I want to send a catalyst of the idea of a place to art lovers, of a peaceful place to those who visit. Amid life still full of chaos and anxiety, especially during the current pandemic period, the journey of living in peace – staying in one’s own life is what many people aim for.”

 Vu Thai Binh is a familiar name in Vietnamese art that is associated with the art of watercolor painting on a very Vietnamese unique material, namely do paper. The painter, Vu Thai Binh began to be noticed in 2016 with his solo exhibition “Sac do 1” after nearly 15 years of diligent research and experience on do paper and multi-layered watercolor painting techniques. His subsequent exhibitions such as “Sac do 2” (in 2018), “Sac do 3” (in 2021) and many group exhibitions… further confirmed the artist’s name and maturity on do paper of Vu Thai Binh.

“Do space” is open to all art lovers. Before the development of the Covid-19 pandemic, the public coming to space was required to comply with regulations on pandemic prevention and control by the Ministry of Health and Hanoi city.
