The congress approved the personnel project and elected the Executive Committee of 1st Hanoi Basketball Federation for the term of 2019-2024 including 15 officers. At the first meeting, the Executive Committee of the Hanoi Basketball Federation, term 2019-2024, met and elected a Standing Committee of 6 officers such as Chairman – Mr. Nghiem Vu Khai, Standing Vice Chairman – Mr. Hoang Van Diem, Vice Chairman for Profession – Mr. Dinh Van Luyen, Vice Chairman for Finance – Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoang, Vice Chairman for Advocacy – Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Loan, General Secretary – Mr. Dao Van Kien and a Deputy General Secretary – Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh.

The congress adopted the Articles of Association of the Hanoi Basketball Federation, the goal of the Federation, the Hanoi Basketball Federation is a Social and Professional organization consisting of Vietnamese citizens and organizations such as basketball clubs in schools from primary to university, sports centers, basketball organizations in Hanoi to improve health and develop talents.

The Hanoi Basketball Federation operates for a non-profit, gathering its members to exercise health and fitness for the masses and students, participating in the development of basketball achievements in the country, improve the status of Hanoi basketball.

The congress also approved the operation direction, determined to concretize key tasks such as: promoting the movement of basketball practice and competition widely throughout the city, in which focus on subjects from primary education to university, contributing to improving the health, fitness and physique of Hanoi people in particular and Vietnamese people in general, and building a healthy lifestyle in the whole society. Also, the Federation also aims to train strong athletes, invest in talented amateur classes, build and train coaches, collaborators, guides, referees in districts, town, and school.

In particular, to focus on key investment on young football talents, for the Hanoi basketball team to firmly position one of the top 3 units of the country towards the 2021 SEA Games posted by Vietnam that Hanoi is the local organization.

“At the end of June, the Hanoi Basketball Federation will hold a 3×3 festival on the walking street for young people who have a passion for the orange ball in the capital. The playground will be used as the international standard carpet system. There is no age or gender limit for the participants”, Dao Van Kien, General Secretary of the Hanoi Basketball Federation said.

Regarding the training of high-achieving athletes, General Secretary Dao Van Kien said: “In the coming time, we are trying to strive for the 31st SEA Games held in Vietnam by 2021. There will be 2-3 players participating in the national team. And in the next few years, we want to be in the top 2 of the country and then develop basketball to reach the regional level.

Speaking at the congress, Mr. Nguyen Quang Son – Deputy Head of Internal Affairs Division, Hanoi People’s Committee – emphasized: “After its establishment, the Hanoi Basketball Federation needs to identify 3 key tasks. First, it is to strengthen the organization, building the rules, regulations and directions for effective operation, in accordance with the law. Second, it is to build a development plan worthy of the capital basketball federation.

Third, closely coordinate with state agencies in communication and political tasks. In addition to professional development and training, the Hanoi Basketball Federation needs to orient the development of the basketball industry, connecting athletes, coaches and businesses. Since then, it is to develop a rich organization in terms of both membership and potential”.

Thus, 17 years after Hanoi’s amateur basketball club tournament, the Hanoi Basketball Federation was officially established. This is a memorable milestone and hopefully, the upcoming activities of the Federation will help Hanoi Basketball to have more big and professional tournaments.
