Born in a a family of rich patriotic, revolutionary and cultural traditions, right from very early days, Mr. le Quang Dao had nurtured himself with the love for motherland and suffered the agony of watching the country lost, hence being soon aware of the revolutionary ideology and becoming a communist fighter at the very young age. Eagerly and wholeheartedly involved in revolutionary activities, with no fear of sacrifice and hardships, he was delegated to take charge of the major tasks within the Government and Party. On whatever duties or areas had he been assigned by the Party and people, he had always been able to fulfil with outstanding performances. Before the August 1945 revolution, he had held the posts as Secretaries of the Party Committees of Bac Ninh, Phuc Yen province respectively, member of the norther region’s Party Committee, Party Secretary of Ha Noi, political commissar of Bac Giang the Liberation Army battalion, directly taking part in leading the uprising to seize the administration in Bac Giang province.

From 1950-1978, he had been dispatched to the military and had also assumed many important positions: in charge of the propaganda for the border campaign, Director of the Propaganda Department, Deputy political Chairman of Dien Bien Phu campaign, Deputy Chairman of the Political General Department, member of the Central Political Commission, Political Commissar of a number of important campaigns during the anti-US resistance war,.. And at the first session of the National Assembly’s 13rd tenure (June 1987), he was elected as Chairman of the National Assembly, Vice Chairman of the State Council of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. At the First Congress of the Central Committee of Viet Nam National Fatherland’s Front 4th tenure (August 1994), he was elected Chairman of the Committee. He had been member of the Central Party Executive Committee for the tenures III, IV, V, VI; Central Party Committee’s secretary for the tenures IV, V (1976-1986); and National Assembly’s deputies for the tenures VIII, IX, X. With tremendous efforts and notable achievements contributed to the revolutionary cause of the Party and Vietnamese people, he had been awarded many noble titles namely Ho Chi Minh Order, Golden Star Order, 50 year Party Badge and other lofty orders and medals.

Celebrating 100th Anniversary of his birthday, one of the key leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State, it is with deep gratitudes and appreciations reminding us of the exploits and dedications of great President Ho Chi Minh as well as the imminent predecessors. Inspired by the patriotic spirits, inheriting the lofty traditional values left by our generations of predecessors, we would be much more determined to accelerate comprehensively and synchronogically the renewal process, building a clean, steadfast Party and political system for the development of happy, prosperous nation, and firmly defending the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
