Phuong Thanh wins gold medal at 2018 World Cup Gymnastic Championship

At the ongoing World Cup Gymnastic Championship in Slovenia, on the evening of 3rd June, the Vietnamese gymnastic team won 3 gold medals attributable to the achievements by the two atheletes, namely Le Thanh Tung (anti jump) and Dinh Phuong Thanh (parallel bars).

In the anti jump try, Le Thanh Tung successfully scored 14.6000 points, far outtpacing rivalries coming from Japan, Switzerland, Israel,.. to snatch the first gold medal for the Vietnamese team at the championship. The two athletes obtaining the silver and bronze medals were Takumi Sato (Japan, 14.475 points) and Benjamin Gischard (Switzerland, 14.325 points). It was just a few minutes afterward, a good news came to the Vietnamese team while Dinh Phuong continued to bring back the second gold medal. He had completed the paralle bars attempt with 14.950 points and the difficult level of 6.29 – the highest score among 8 final competitors. Notebaly, he overtook all the two very strong athletes, they were Muntean Muntean Andrei Vasile (Romania, Silver) and Levantesi Matteo (Italia, Bronze).

At this Championship 2018, Viet Nam dispatched 7 athletes, including 5 males and 2 females. Tran Doan Quynh Nam and Do Thi Ngoc Duong participated in the female competing items for experience sharing while in the male items, Viet Nam’s gymnastic team qualified with many elites as Pham Phuoc Hung, Le Thanh Tung, Dinh Phuong Thanh, Dang Nam,..

It was the first time for Viet Nam gymnasts to win the double gold medals in the world cup 2018 championship. Upon completion, they would come back and be trained at Ha Noi National Sport training Centre. As the results, the tournament could be seen as an important trial for them to take part in ASEAD 18th  that would take place in August in Indonesia.
