Excited in the International Painting Contest for children “Peace in the Eyes of Children”

To popularize and educate the love of peace, intensify the exchange of knowledge about art and culture, the friendship between Vietnamese children and the international children; Encourage creative talents..

Peace is the wish of all mankind, people only obtain a happy and peaceful life, children living in love, care, going to school when peace existing. To popularize and educate the love of peace, intensify the exchange of knowledge about art and culture, the friendship between Vietnamese children and the international children; Encourage creative talents in art of children, create a healthy and useful playground for children, the Department of Culture and Sports assigned the City Cultural Center to organize the International Painting Contest for children “Peace in the eyes of children”. The contest was held at Bat Giac Building (Ly Thai To Flower Garden) on the morning of December 10th.


The People’s Artist Tran Quoc Chiem – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports gave the opening speech of the Contest.

Attending the opening ceremony of the International Children Painting Contest for children, on the international side included Mrs. Anke Van Lancker – First Secretary of the Belgian Embassy in Vietnam, Mr. Mykhailiuk Denys – First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Vietnam. At the contest, there are children whose parents are working or studying at embassies, international organizations, joint venture enterprises, international schools in Hanoi such as USA, Japan, Korea, Ukraine, France, Belgium, Cambodia, etc. On the Vietnamese side, People’s Artist Tran Quoc Chiem – Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet – Head of Culture, Arts Department of Propaganda and Propaganda of the City People’s Committee and many delegates, parents, teachers of the children in the capital. The contest attracted the participation of nearly 300 children (ages ranging from 5 to 15).

With the theme “Peace in the eyes of children”, children have developed their imagination and deep understanding to create outstanding paintings conveying their aspirations for a comfortable and happy life, solidarity, love for peace among the peoples around the world, anti-war, poverty, disease, on of human, the civilized, clean, safe and beautiful living environment, clean beautiful, safe, to appeal to everyone for joining hands to protect the environment, etc. The painting contest enabled children to form, foster emotion in front of the goods and beauty in life.

According to the Board of Organization’s assessment, most of the works are of cheerful colors, various themes, practical meaning. The Board of Organization selected and awarded the first prize to the a 11- year old child Nguyen Minh Phuong, with the picture “Peace, solidarity and friendship”; 3 second prizes to: 14-year-old Min Jin Young (Korean) with “Children’s Peace”; 12- year old Le Hong Nhung with the painting “Let’s join hands to protect peace”; 9 –year old Chen Lingzhi with the painting “Peace”. The Board of Organization also awarded 5 third prizes and 31 consolation prizes for good quality works.
