This is a collection of paintings showcasing ancient architecture from all over the country. There are works that still stand with time; others have long been hidden and what remains are just the foundation and the past in books. From the perspective of painting and architecture, painter Nguyen Thanh Vu has put on those architectures different of strong, lively, and quite layers.

Painter Nguyen Thanh Vu was born in 1995, graduated from Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture. He has a great passion for painting, especially oil painting. He believes that painting is an important form of culture, and it reflects the nature of the times. Pursuing Post-Impressionism, Nguyen Thanh Vu wishes to convey vitality, enthusiasm, as well as youthfulness and peace through his works. Nguyen Thanh Vu also has a great love for the ancient architecture of his country, so he combined his passion in two fields of architecture and painting in this first exhibition. With the desire to introduce to all audiences the ancient architecture in Vietnam and thereby arouse the values and beauty of the ancient architecture to the audience, painter Nguyen Thanh Vu has brought to the exhibition “Vietnamese Mysteries” 20 debut compositions. Featured works include the roof of the Rong house in a village in the Central Highlands – a symbol of will and aspiration; Bao Thien tower – during the reign of King Ly Thanh Tong, it was one of the four great treasures to revive the vitality of the Vietnamese people; So Kien Basilica – a nearly 140-year-old church that converges a unique East-West architectural style,… Behind the beauty of each building is a separate historical story and lessons that are still valid to this day. The exhibition also displays the pictures of Cau Hai lagoon, To Vo Gate, Lung Cu Afternoon, Cu Lao Xanh steppe stone beach, Hai Ly and Constellation of Literature pavilion, etc. These first-time published paintings focus on portraying the beauty of Vietnam’s majestic nature as well as cultural and historical sites.

Mr. Le Xuan Kieu – Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature said that the Center is aiming to turn the Temple of Literature into a creative space. To realize that, recently, with the cooperation and help of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts and the Gavisto Diplomat Non-Profit Project on Culture and Education, many successful events, activities have been organized, creating very good effects. That is a strong motivation for the Center to continue its work in the coming years, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. To together with Hanoi City to participate in the Creative Cities Network, today, at the library – where the Center’s cultural activities take place, delegates and visitors will enjoy the paintings by artists from Ho Chi Minh City in the exhibition of “Vietnam Mysteries”. “With this exhibition, we hope that this will be a continuation of the emotional circuit that creates inspirations for young people to have creations from the foundation of the heritage, creating positive energy for young people when they come to visit heritages. At the same time, it is also the opening event for many subsequent events in 2022 and the coming years to be held at the space of the Temple of Literature to realize the orientation that the Temple of Literature would become a unique and creative space, bringing the breath of contemporary life, with the participation and companionship of young people so that the heritage becomes an inspiration to nurture the love of Vietnamese people in general and young people in particular when coming to the Temple of Literature as well as other heritages “- emphasized Mr. Le Xuan Kieu.

The Exhibition “Vietnam Mysteries” as an opportunity to revive things that seem old, relics that seem to have been forgotten. People live to witness things to happen, and architecture lives to see us born, grown up and become mature over the years. Let us once know the miracle of our ancestors, and maybe in the story of each work, we will have the opportunity to find our own lost pieces.
The exhibition is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm from May 21, 2022, to the end of May 30, 2022 at the Library (belonging to the Temple of Literature)./.
