Participating in the Badminton Austrian Open 2020, Nguyen Thuy Linh ranked 47 in the world, ranked no. 3 at the Challenge system of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) with Olympic Tokyo 2020 score.

Nguyen Thuy Linh ranked 47 in the world with 28,536 points.

Playing impressively, after two spectacular comeback stages in the first round and quarterfinals, Hanoi Badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh continued to advance to the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Thuy Linh met the no. 1 player Brittney Tam (ranked 43 in the world). Previously, twice against Brittney Tam, Thuy Linh won this Canadian player. And in this round, Thuy Linh once again proves herself to be the enemy of a young 22-year-old Canadian female badminton player. The semi-final took place extremely thrilling and attractive when lasted nearly 1 hour. In this match, Thuy Linh continued to get an impressive upstream victory on 22/20, 21/19, thereby winning the final 2-1.

Reaching the final, the match took place late on the same day (February 22), Thuy Linh met with Japanese opponent Yukino Nakai (ranked 156 in the world). Before the opponent who was judged to be weaker, Thuy Linh seemed to be raising the championship. The Badminton Austrian Open has a high competition density when the players have to compete 2 matches in 1 day. Therefore, the previous matches caused Thuy Linh to spend too much effort, so in the final, her physical strength was significantly reduced. This is the reason to make her physical strength declined which caused Thuy Linh to quickly lose to Yukino Nakai in the 2 matches with 13/21, 18/21.
