In 2005, the Prime Minister signed a decision to recognize November 23 as “Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Day” to encourage and mobilize all social classes to actively participate in the cause of protecting and promoting the values ​​of Vietnamese national cultural heritage.

As one of the few capitals and cities in the world with a long history of formation and development, experiencing more than a thousand years with many changes, ups and downs, Thang Long – Hanoi has become ” The land of human masterpieces”, converging the sacred air of rivers and mountains, the quintessence and strength of the nation, shining the image of the country in the most concentrated way. Typically, Hanoi is the “heart of the whole country” – the place where crystallization and spreading the national cultural identity, cultural traditions, humanity and peace-loving Vietnamese people.

Experiencing a particularly difficult period caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, the Capital Cultural Heritage industry with strong efforts has gradually recovered and adapted to the general situation of the country, while ensuring the safety at the working offices of the industry, relics and heritage sites, while renovating the organization in many forms to preserve and promote the values ​​of the heritages. The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has advised the City Party Committee and the City People’s Committee to amend and supplement the Capital Law with specific articles and clauses in the field of culture. Advise the City Party to issue Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU dated February 22, 2022 of the City Party Committee on “Developing the cultural industry in the capital area for the period of 2021-2025, orientation to 2030, vision look to 2045”. This is considered a breakthrough in the cultural development of the Capital, in order to ensure the harmony between the preservation and development of culture, improve the quality of culture, improve the spiritual life for the people of the Capital, narrow gradually distance, improving the ability to enjoy culture among regions of the Capital, making an important contribution to promoting economic growth, increasing the proportion of contribution to the City’s GRDP….

The districts, towns, and cities have been innovative in putting the city’s work programs into action, focusing on cultural development, heritage preservation, and transforming Hanoi into a Creative City. In 2022, the Department of Culture and Sports advised to successfully organize the Hanoi Creative Design Festival; Hanoi Talented Voice Contest; successfully coordinate to organize the Hanoi International Film Festival and other congresses in the city. Especially the Opening and Closing Ceremony of the 31st SEA Games and many other activities contributed significantly to the success of the Games with the message of friendly Vietnam, strong Southeast Asia, shining together…

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Van Anh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports affirmed: “The year 2022 is an impressive year, recognizing the efforts and responsibilities of officials, civil servants, public employees, employees of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in maintaining cultural and sports activities, especially, the field of cultural heritage has returned to normal after 2 years of suffering many difficulties and challenges due to the COVID-19 epidemic”.

The Deputy Director of the Department also congratulated the artisans of Hanoi who were conferred the titles of People’s Artists and Distinguished Artists in the field of intangible cultural heritage in 2022. These are successful holders and masters of knowledge about intangible culture, rituals, folk performances, and at the same time, they are also the ones who teach and preserve the quintessence and cultural identity of the nation for today and future generations.

“We must acknowledge the enthusiastic participation, enthusiasm, responsibility, and love for Hanoi of scientists, researchers, managers, especially civil servants, officials of professional ministries, and many organizations and individuals with a love for Hanoi heritage in order to achieve those results.” Although the cause of Hanoi’s cultural heritage management, protection, and promotion has achieved encouraging results, there is still plenty of opportunity for improvement. We are confronted with obstacles and challenges, particularly in mobilizing social resources to focus on culture, so that culture can truly become a soft power, a foundation for Fatherland defense as well as effective integration and development. With the attention of the City Party Committee, People’s Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city and all classes of people; with the attention and direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, especially with the help of the National Council of Cultural Heritage, social organizations, especially the participation of scientists, the coordination of all levels, branches, organizations and individuals, the press agencies in the Central and Hanoi, all classes of people in the capital, we deeply believe that Hanoi will succeed in inheriting and developing excellently cultural values, especially in the field of cultural heritage, to identify cultural heritage will contribute to building and positioning the brand of the civilized, civilized and modern Hanoi Capital.” – Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi Van Anh emphasized.
