Hanoi Library Secures First Prize at the National Librarians’ Festival 2023

The Hanoi Library brought the festival a propagation program consisting of three works: “The Sacred Sovereignty of Vietnam’s Homeland Seas and Islands,” “Youth in Truong Sa,” “Where the Horizon Meets the Waves,” along with creative and captivating singing, dancing, and skits.

From August 7 to 11, guided by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the Hanoi Library participated in the National Librarians’ Festival to promote reading culture and introduce books on Vietnam’s sovereignty over the seas and islands in 2023, themed “Vietnam – The Nation by the Waves,” held in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.

The festival aimed to introduce documentation on Vietnam’s history, position, role, and sovereignty over the seas and islands, thereby contributing to educating and enhancing awareness and responsibility for protecting sovereignty, and territorial integrity, arousing national pride, love for the homeland, and the aspiration to contribute to the prosperous and happy development of the country in all layers of the population, especially the younger generation.

With 30 delegations and nearly 700 members representing over 10,000 library workers from 63 provinces/cities and the armed forces libraries nationwide, the festival encompassed four sections: Introduction of the team; Propagation, book introduction; Presentation of initiatives, experiences, and service models for books, newspapers; Talents. Hanoi Library presented a vibrant program at the festival with three works, “The Sacred Sovereignty of Vietnam’s Homeland Seas and Islands,” “Youth in Truong Sa,” and “Where the Horizon Meets the Waves,” accompanied by singing, dancing, and skits, all of which were innovative and appealing. These works provided readers with additional insights, diverse perspectives, and easy accessibility to the themes of the homeland’s seas and islands, affirming the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation, and igniting the spirit and responsibility of everyone in the cause of building and protecting the country.

To ensure a high-quality program at the festival, the Hanoi Library paid meticulous attention and invested from scriptwriting to organizing rehearsals until presenting the competition segments on the festival stage. The Hanoi Library delegation showcased creativity in their performance, maximizing support from sound effects, lighting, and technological effects to make their presentation more attractive and impressive. The library officials confidently demonstrated their abilities, professionalism, and presentation skills to the audience, sharing their passion for their work and profession and introducing valuable books to the community, leaving a profound impression on the festival audience, constructing the image of library workers in this new, modern, dynamic, creative, and enthusiastic era. The Hanoi Library also introduced innovative experiences, and typical service models for books, newspapers, and materials to develop a reading culture and propagate sovereignty over the homeland’s seas and islands.

After four days of vibrant, meaningful, and emotional activities, the National Librarians’ Festival for promoting reading culture and introducing books in 2023 with the theme “Vietnam – The Nation by the Waves” was a resounding success. The Hanoi Library was honored to secure the First Prize at the festival.
