After nearly two months of launching, the illustration contest named “Hanoi is”… has just announced the results with 30/250 entries selected for awards.

The illustration contest “Hanoi is…” belongs to the project “Hanoi Rethink – Mobilizing cultural resources and youth participation towards developing Hanoi into a Creative Capital”. The contest was launched by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) from August 6, 2021.

The contest aims to call for young artists to jointly promote the title Hanoi – Creative City awarded by UNESCO in 2019 with illustrations about Hanoi.

   “Hanoi Rong” by Dang Thai Tuan won the first prize in the contest

After nearly 2 months of launching, the contest has attracted nearly 250 young artists from home and abroad to respond and create art, performed in a variety of materials, such as digital drawing, silk, collage, oil painting, lacquer… The first prize went to “Hanoi Rong” by Dang Thai Tuan; the 4 second prizes of the contest were awarded to the works “Hanoi by night” by Tran Phat (who won the selected prize), “Mind on cloud nine” by Ha Manh Hieu, “Bowl of vermicelli” by Ton Nu Thi Bich Tram and “Hanoi Collage” by Nguyen Huu Huyen Tran.

With the evocative theme “Hanoi is…”, the authors have brought unexpected and fresh ideas integrating many stories and their own emotions to portray Hanoi with many unique colors, … For example, for the work that won the first prize, the author drew a robot carrying all the cultural heritages and special architectural works of Hanoi on Long Bien bridge as a shoulder pole…

The illustration contest “Hanoi is…’“ was initiated to support Hanoi city in realizing its strategic vision of becoming a Creative City in the field of design and use of cultural heritage together with the participation of the young Vietnamese generation – essential for innovation, creativity and change.
