This activity is to help tourists understand more about the ethnic groups’ unique traditional cultural features of welcoming Tet and spring, contributing to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the groups, increasing communication among them, solidarity, support and development on the occasion of the New Year 2020.
The activities involve more than 100 people from 15 ethnic groups (Tay, Dao, Mong, Nung, Thai, Muong, O Du, Kho Mu, Bahnar, Ta Oi, Co Tu, Raglai, Ede, Khmer ) from 12 localities of Thai Nguyen, Hanoi, Ha Giang, Son La, Hoa Binh, Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue, Ninh Thuan, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak and Soc Trang.

The highlight of January’s activity is “Spring on Muong village” program with “ritual of bad luck elimination at the beginning of a year” of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups in Thai Nguyen province. It is a folk custom and activity that has existed for a long time and passed among generations and preserved up to now. The ritual aims to ward off the bad and welcome the new year of peace, happiness and convenient business.
In the framework of the program, there are also activities to celebrate the New Year of the Rat 2020 and the “Wrapping green Chung cake to welcome Tet with the poor” festival in Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism; the program introduces the ritual of “Then Hot Pot “ and the Songs in Spring
In particular, close to the Lunar New Year days, in the space of ethnic minority villages, the people will prepare and decorate the Tet and home space following the traditions of the New Year of each ethnic group. The gate, surrounding space, entrances and space for organizing folk games are decorated. Features are arranged for visitors to take pictures. In particular, the atmosphere to welcome the New Year of the Northwest ethnic groups (Muong, Thai, Mong, Dao, Tay, Nung, Kho Mu, O Du …), associated with peach blossom and plum blossom, is planted. More flowers and green trees are planted in the village to show the prosperity of the Spring.

Ethnic people celebrating Tet at their villages will show traditional New Year wishing rituals imbued with ethnic identity, and perform traditional folk games such as throwing paos, bamboo dance, and walking on stilts, tug of war, seesaw, swing, and so on.
Besides, there are daily and weekend activities, festivals, culinary experiences, etc. to introduce the exciting atmosphere of Spring welcoming, contributing to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of people, strengthening exchanges between peoples, solidarity, attachment, support and development on the occasion of the New Year 2020.
