Lunar New Year is one of the most important annual occasions when Vietnamese family gather together and jubilantly participate in spring festivals. Inspired by the pig- symbol of the year 219 and for a    full and a prosperous and happy life, Management Board of Hanoi Old Quarter coordinates with organizations and artisans to organize cultural program to celebrate the Party establishment, the Spring 2019 with the theme “Old Spring” at the relics under Management Board.

These activities are to preserve and promote the rich and civilized beauty in people’s lifestyle in Tet, especially for the young generation to understand and appreciate a rich Vietnamese culture.

 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Thi Hao – Chairwoman of Hanoi Folk Arts Association addressed at the opening ceremony that whenever New Year comes, we are all eager and that eagerness has followed us for thousand years. Activities in the “Old Spring” program are not only for the elderly classes but also for the young, especially the next generation who will acquire a better understanding of the traditional New Year. Besides, Tet is an occasion for family reunion and meeting, especially a sacred occasion to remember our ancestors as well as wish a prosperous new year.

 The “Old Spring” program will last from January 25 to February 24, 2019 with a variety of compelling activities such as learning about the decoration and setting up the traditional Tet space; Introducing traditional Tet space of Hanoi family; the exhibition 3 unique folk paintings of Hanoi including: Hang Trong, Dong Ho and Kim Hoang paintings for the viewers; Exhibition with the theme of Sac Do and Huong Canh Pottery. In addition, during the days before Lunar New Year, Management Board of Hanoi Old Quarter also organizes Hang Luoc Flower Market and fresco space on Phung Hung Street.
