Khuong Ha communal house (also known as Gung communal house), is located at 4 Khuong Ha street, Khuong Dinh ward, Thanh Xuan district, where the army of King Quang Trung used to store weapons to drive away the Thanh reign army. Khuong Ha communal house cultural and historical relic was ranked as an architectural and art relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information in 1993.

The Tutelary god of Khuong Ha communal house was Le Duong Ve, a famous general who lived at the end of Former Le reign, he had many merits in a struggle of Le reign against Mac reign. After died, he was worshiped by the people as the village’s tutelary god. Due to many merits to the country and the people during the reigns of Le, Tay Son, and Nguyen, he was ordained and approved for the people here to worship him forever.

Former Khuong Ha Communal House

Khuong Ha communal house was built along the central axis, facing the Southeast direction, the main gate opening to the village road  (Khuong Ha street in present). Khuong Ha communal house had a large and spacious architecture with unique carvings. Khuong Ha communal house consists of many areas, including Nghi Mon, communal house yard, left and right side, front sacrifice area, main hall and back house.

The current Khuong Ha communal house is in the architectural and artistic style of the Later Le and Nguyen dynasties. The great communal house is located on a high ground with a continuous architecture with a five-compartment front sacrifice house, roofed with tiled roofs, and topped with two dragon statues adoring the sun. The main hall is seven compartments wide, connected to the back house in the shape of a mallet. The back house of the communal house is the main place of worship of the communal house, there are many carvings with the theme of four spirits, the cửa võng, the incense altar, the altar impressed with carving art of the late Nguyen Dynasty.

Khuong Ha communal house kept many precious relics impressed with wood carving art of the late Nguyen Dynasty, such as a Khuong Ha stele built in the 8th year of Bao Dai (1933), six stone steles on the left house wall, a wooden altar carved with dragons, tigers, clouds, and a throne, tablet, one incense-table, two horizontal lacquered board, twenty-one ordinations dating from the 5th year of Duc Long (1633) to the The 9th year of Khai Dinh (1924).

Khuong Ha communal house festival is solemnly held every year on the 12th day of the second lunar month, including special performances such as horse running race, dragon dance, lion dance, human chess,  wrestling, and cheo singing, etc.

Experiencing many ups and downs, Khuong Ha communal house has deteriorated. Recently, implementing Decision No. 2780/QD-UBND of the People’s Committee of Thanh Xuan district, Khuong Dinh ward has restored and embellished Khuong Ha communal house.

On May 14, 2019, Thanh Xuan District People’s Committee issued Decision No. 1394/QD-UBND approving the investment project of construction,  renovation and embellishment of Khuong Ha communal house  with a total investment of 19,96,300,000 VND. Of which state budget capital was 10,996,300,000 VND, social capital was 9,000,000,000 VND. Clans, individuals, organizations and people from all over the world have supported the project with 1,686,722,000 VND.

After more than two years of implementation, up to now, the work items have been completed, ensuring quality, fine art, meeting the aspirations of the entire local people and visitors from all over the world; become a red address to educate the younger generation about the cultural values and patriotic traditions of our ancestors.
