Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2021, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will be launched nationwide from February 2021. This is one of the activities to implement the Project on developing reading culture among the community in 2020, with a vision to 2030, approved by the Prime Minister.
With contestants being students across the country, the contest aims to arouse a passion for reading, form reading habits and skills in the youth. Through the contest, students have an opportunity to share about the interesting books that encourage reading and their effective reading experiences. They also develop plans and methods to encourage people to read.
The contest has 2 rounds, of which the preliminary round is held at the Ministry of Public Security, Vietnam Blind Association, Vietnam Education Publishing House, localities, and universities/academies, and the final round is held in Hanoi. Ministry of Public Security, Vietnam Education Publishing House, Vietnam Blind Association, 58 provinces and cities and nearly 30 universities and academies have organized the preliminary round so far.
Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Departments of Culture and Sports, Departments of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism of many localities have coordinated with Departments of Education and Training in developing an interdisciplinary plan for organizing the preliminary round. Therefore, the contest has received a wide response from schools, teachers, and students, creating a positive emulation movement in schools and contributing to the formation and spreading of reading habits among students.
The Jury is scoring the entries for Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2021
The contest organizers said that after 8 months of launching and implementing, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, there were 871,168 students with nearly 6,882 primary, secondary, high schools, colleges, universities, and academies participating in the preliminary round of the contest. The organizers received 1,276 entries, of which 987 entries from 55 provinces/cities, Vietnam Blind Association, Vietnam Education Publishing House, and 289 entries from students of universities/academies under the Ministry of Public Security and of 26 colleges, universities/academies across the country were selected for the final round of Reading Culture Ambassador Contest 2021.
It is expected that the Jury will work for 5 days to select the best entries which will be awarded 4 Ambassador prizes, 8 First prizes, 16 Second prizes, 42 Third prizes, 180 Consolation prizes, and Thematic prizes by age.
