The exhibition aims to help readers better understand the Party’s direction and the role of President Ho Chi Minh in leading the revolution in the period 1930 – 1945; developments of the August Revolution in the country in general and in Hanoi in particular, as well as the significance of this great event.

The success of the August Revolution in 1945 was a great victory of our people since the leadership of the Party, opening a great turning point in the history of the Vietnamese nation. This is a milestone that continues the heroic history of the nation, marking the victory of nearly a century of tenacity against colonialism and feudalism. Our people have transformed from slaves to masters of the country and their own destiny.

On September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the “Declaration of Independence” giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (currently, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam), ushering in a new era – the era of national independence associated with socialism.

With 29 documents, the online book exhibition introduces readers to three main contents, including Part I: The Party leads and organizes revolutionary struggles and uprisings to seize power; Part II: The August Revolution and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam; and Part III: Hanoi in historic August days.

Through the exhibition, the organizers hope to be able to convey a part of the history of the Vietnamese nation’s struggle to build and defend the country throughout its history, especially affirm the stature of the times, the historical significance of the August Revolution and the National Day of September 2, 1945 – a heroic milestone of the Vietnamese nation.

Some materials are introduced at the Exhibition.
