Over the past years, Women’s Association of Bac Tu Liem District has strengthened the vocational training and created more jobs for its members, contributing to assisting women in overcoming difficulty. With such assistance, many members have jobs and stable income to get out of poverty.
Many women living in difficult condition have been assisted in finding job to get stable income.
Being aware that vocational training and job placement work is one of the effective measures to economically assist the members, the Women’s Association of Bac Tu Liem District has reviewed and sorted out poor families with female householder, and member’s households living in difficult condition in order to help them by giving loans, teaching knowledge, holding vocational training courses as well as giving consultancy on employment. Nguyen Thi Tinh’s family (living in Co Nhue 1 Ward) is one of the examples. Through the Ward Women’s Association, Mrs. Tinh got a job in a garment factory in October 2016. She currently earns about 4-4.5 million VND/month. “The Association not only helps me find a job, but also partially supports us the tuition fee for my two children. Now, my family has overcome difficulty” said Mrs. Tinh. The Association has always paid attention to demands and expectations of the difficult members. “Not only the members but also their husband, children and even relatives are also assisted by the Association in finding job. The Association has also held many vocational training courses, and, in collaboration with garment enterprises, workshops and factories in the area, provided more suitable jobs to women. During 10 months in 2017, the Association had introduced jobs for 93 members and their husbands and children”, said Mrs. Le Thi Ly, the Chairman of Women Association of Xuan Dinh Ward.

In addition to job creation, from early 2017 up to now, the Association has organized 12 technical training courses for more than 700 members on collecting and preserving flowers, caring Dien pomelo before and after collection, and using pesticides in safely growing vegetables. 140 members in Duc Thang, Thuong Cat, and Xuan Dinh wards were issued makeup or food processing vocational training certificate. 335 workers were provided with job.
Besides, the Women’s Association of Bac Tu Liem District maintains a savings model at its branches so as to make a fund for supporting its members in economic development. The model was attended by 17,023 members with more than VND 1.7 billion. Together with that, the District’s Association has directed the registration agencies to support 535 poor households, 371 households living in difficult condition managed by women. Accordingly, 81 poor households, and 41 households living in difficult condition have escaped from poverty and 31 other households have improved their living standards.
Mrs. Bui Thi Trinh, the Chairman of Women’s Association of Bac Tu Liem District affirmed that the vocational training and job creation for members in the area, especially women in the area where agricultural land was recovered, women working as freelancers with unstable income is always the key task of the Association. In the coming time, the District’s Association will continue to direct the branches to review the employment situation of its members to enhance the vocational training and job placement, so that 100% of poor households owned by women will be supported by the Association in terms of capital, knowledge and experience to sustainably develop and escape from poverty.
