Accordingly, to improve the quality and operational efficiency of the museum system in the provinces and cities to meet the urgent requirements set out in the current situation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed the Departments and Museums to develop plans to promote digital transformation and increase the application of scientific achievements of the 4.0 industrial revolution in museum activities.

Specifically, the Departments direct and prioritize the allocation of resources for affiliated museums to carry out digital transformation, at the same time, focus on training and fostering museum staff on new technologies and introducing technology applications that can be applied at the museum.

Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum is one of the major units pioneering in organizing online exhibitions

Museums build a digital database on cultural heritage suitable to the objects, scope of activities and actual conditions of the museum to serve research, display, education and introduction on cultural heritage in digital space. Research on the application of digital technology by some museums has initially been successful to build applications to introduce thematic display content and cultural heritage education online. Promote online communication activities, organize public promotion and development programs; build a network of related organizations and individuals to develop the museum’s activities in the digital space.

Regarding program building, in collaboration with the local Education and Training Sector, to organize extra-curricular programs and visits for pupils and students at museums, thereby educating patriotic traditions and learning about national history, imbued with Uncle Ho’s thought “Our people must know our history”, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested, the Departments assume the prime responsibility to develop and sign a program to coordinate with the Departments of Education and Training on the use of cultural heritage in teaching and learn to direct museums and schools in the area to coordinate implementation. In addition, focus on training, fostering and improving the quality of staff directly participating in educational activities of the museum, to effectively implement the use of cultural heritage in patriotic traditional education, the sense of preserving and honoring the national cultural identity.

Museums are proactive and flexible in coordinating with local schools to bring students to museums and cultural heritage to schools in a new approach: Building cultural heritage education programs curriculum for students, associated with appropriate knowledge and life skills frameworks; various forms of education at the museum such as organizing tours, experiences, cultural heritage performances, seminars or online introductions about cultural heritages; providing professional support to schools in selecting and putting folk games, folk performing arts, etc. into extracurricular programs and connecting and inviting artisans to participate in the activities of teaching intangible cultural heritage to the younger generation.
