On the morning of November 30, at the Ha Dong District Gymnasium, the Organizing Committee opened the Billiards & Snooker competition in the program of the Ninth National Sport Games.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Le Son Hai – Vice Chairman of Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, Chairman of Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation; Pham Xuan Tai – Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports; Pham Thi Hoa – Member of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee for the Ninth National Sport Games in Ha Dong District and a large number of referees, coaches and athletes groups…

 Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Pham Xuan Tai presented flowers and souvenir flags to the delegations attending the tournament.

Attending this year’s tournament, there are 130 athletes (121 male athletes and 9 female athletes) from 20 localities including: An Giang, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Ben Tre, Binh Dinh, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Dong Nai, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Quang Nam, Quang Ninh, Thua Thien Hue, Tien Giang, Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Tri and Vinh Long.

Taking place from November 30 to December 8, the players participating in the Billiards & Snooker tournament will compete for 11 sets of medals in the content of 9 women’s ball, single snooker, 10 women’s ball, double Snooker, 3-band Carom, 9 ball Men’s singles, English singles, Carom 1 band, 9 men’s doubles balls, Pool 10 men’s ball and English doubles.

On the first day of competition on November 30, the athletes competed in the content of 3-band Carom (13 matches), 9 women’s ball games (6 matches) and 6 Snooker matches.

Participating in the tournament, the Hanoi Billiards & Snooker team has 14 athletes, including 2 female athletes with top players, with many achievements such as: Luong Duc Thien, Do The Kien, Nguyen Anh Tuan , Doan Thi Ngoc Le, Bui Xuan Vang…

Coach Nguyen Thanh Nam said that during the preparation time to participate in the Sport Games, the Hanoi Billiards & Snooker team actively practiced and participated in a number of club tournaments in Hanoi to increase the friction.

With the force and careful preparation in many aspects, coach Nguyen Thanh Nam hopes that the athletes of the Hanoi delegation will achieve good results, exceeding the set targets.

Billiards & Snooker is one of 7 sports in the Games program hosted by Hanoi, including: Men’s Futsal Football (Hanoi Palace of Athletics); Iron balls (Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center); Wrestling (Gia Lam District Gymnasium); Judo (Hoi Duc District Gymnasium); Kurash (Hoai Duc District Gymnasium); Bowling (Royal City, Thanh Xuan District) and Billiards & Snooker (Ha Dong District Gymnasium).
