Previously, the People’s Committee of Soc Son district built a plan to organize the Giong Festival at the Soc temple in association with the 10th Anniversary of the Giong Festival which was recognized by UNESCO as the representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The estimated time is on the morning of January 6 (Lunar calendar), i.e. February 17, 2021, Tan Suu lunar year.

However, in the new situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the People’s Committee of Soc Son district has agreed not to hold the 10th anniversary of Giong Festival which is recognized as a heritage by UNESCO. For the Giong Festival at Soc temple of Tan Suu Spring 2021, the district authority also advocated removing the festival, only organizing its ceremony with traditional rituals.

Accordingly, the Giong Festival at Soc temple in 2021 will still have an opening ceremony held according to traditional rituals. Meanwhile, the Festival Organizing Committee will not organize cultural and cultural activities, sports, folk games on the grounds of the Soc temple … The district authority also does not organize booths for introducing typical local products, displaying local images for tourists, etc.

Recently, the People’s Committee of Hanoi City also issued a Decision on the recognition of a special national monument of Soc Temple in Phu Linh commune, Soc Son district, Hanoi city, managed by the Tourism Area Management Center – Soc Son Temple relics.

Accordingly, the Center for Management of Soc Son Temple tourism-relic sites is responsible for organizing the management, exploitation and development of the tourist attraction in accordance with the Law on Tourism and relevant legal documents. . Relevant departments and branches are responsible for guiding the organization, management, exploitation and investment in the construction of a special national monument tourist site in accordance with the law and the city, ensuring sustainable and effective development.

The Giong Festival at Soc Temple is one of the major festivals of Soc Son district in particular, Hanoi city and the country in general, and has been recognized by UNESCO as the representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2010. The Soc Temple Festival is an important spiritual cultural event in the life of local people as well as local tourists.

Every year when New Year comes, people from all over the world will cheerfully celebrate the Giong Festival at Soc temple to show their respect and wish for a peaceful and lucky year for themselves and their families. According to traditional custom, the Giong Festival at Soc temple will be held for 3 days, from the 6th to the 8th of January according to the lunar calendar.

The recognition of the tourist destination aims to enhance the image of the destination, raising the sense of responsibility of the authorities at all levels, management boards and local people in tourism development. Moreover, for community tourism destinations, it also contributes to promoting the interest, attracts investment from organizations, individuals as well as businesses in tourism activities here.
