In a concerted effort to enhance awareness and responsibility across various levels, sectors, organizations, individuals, families, and communities in preventing and combating domestic violence, to eliminate gender stereotypes and ensure equality between men and women in society, Thach That district People’s Committee organized the Communication Conference for the Action Month for Gender Equality and Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response, responding to and coping with gender-based violence and the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Children” in 2023.

The conference took place on December 6, 7, and 12, with the participation of district leaders, leaders of communes, and towns, and nearly 700 delegates, including Party Cell Secretaries, Heads of Fatherland Front Affairs Committees, Hamlet Chiefs, and Heads of Family Violence Prevention and Combat Clubs. Also present were members of the Women’s Union in Ha Bang, Dong Truc, Canh Nau, Di Nau, Huong Ngai, Dai Dong, and Cam Yen communes.

Addressing the conference, Mr. Pham Quang Thai, Head of the Office of Culture and Information of Thach That district, emphasized that domestic violence has become a complex social issue, posing a potential threat to the stability and sustainable development of families. Preventing and progressing toward eradicating domestic violence is a concern for countries worldwide, including Vietnam.

The head of the Office of Culture and Information of Thach That district, Mr. Pham Quang Thai, delivered a speech at the conference.

In the district over the past years, Party committees and authorities from the district to grassroots levels have consistently focused on the work of preventing and combating domestic violence. Steering Committees for Family Affairs have been established. Currently, communes and townships have developed and maintained models for preventing and combating domestic violence, including 09 models of Civilized Happy Family Clubs, 19 Family Violence Prevention and Combat Clubs, 23 trusted community locations, and 23 hotlines. With the joint efforts of various levels and sectors, the work of preventing and combating domestic violence has been effectively implemented in villages and neighborhoods. Although the incidence of domestic violence in the district is relatively low according to statistics, it still exists and needs to be timely addressed. The family plays a crucial role in the survival and development of the nation, ethnicity, and individuals. The first environment a person encounters is their family, and their character is shaped by their family. The majority of citizens spend their lives with their families. If the family is unstable, broken, or at risk of breaking, it will impact the stability of society. Building a happy and sustainable family is not only the desire and responsibility of every family but also a requirement and task for Party committees, authorities, and various organizations and unions.
