Thanh Tri invests in promoting the development of physical training and sports among the masses

After 10 years of implementing Resolution 08-NQ/TW dated December 1, 2011, by the Politburo “on strengthening the leadership of the Party, creating a strong development in physical training and sports until 2020” associated with evaluating the implementation of Directive 10-CT/TU dated July 9, 2012, of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee on strengthening the leadership of the Party, creating a strong development in physical training and sports in the capital until the year 2020. In 2020, Thanh Tri district has always been the city’s leading unit in physical training and sports achievements. The district’s sports and fitness targets are always completed and exceeded.

Thanh Tri is the city’s leading unit in the construction and implementation of the Project on building swimming pools and universalizing swimming and drowning prevention for students.

Improving the quality and effectiveness of physical education and sports activities in schools

Over the years, the district’s Education and Training Department has well-implemented physical education and school sports activities. 100% of schools in the district organize regular physical education and extracurricular sports activities. Equipped with sufficient teaching facilities, many schools have invested in yards and purchased equipment for physical training and sports activities for students and teachers in the school to practice. Newly built schools ensure a physical education zone for students in accordance with national school standards.

The team of physical education teachers is interested in recruiting fully, meeting the number and ensuring professional qualifications. The number of students who met the standards of physical training according to the prescribed age reached 98%. Many students won medals at district, city and national and international sports tournaments. 100% of schools organize the school-level Phu Dong Health Association in each school year. Many schools organize martial arts, dance, football, basketball clubs, etc.

Every year, the Department of Education and Training cooperates with the District Center of Culture, Information and Sports to organize the Student Athletics Tournament, and the district-level Phu Dong Health Association every four years to promote the sport movement and select athletes to serve the training and fostering of the next class of athletes for the district team.

Notably, Thanh Tri district is the city’s leading unit in the construction and implementation of the project on building swimming pools and universalizing swimming and drowning prevention for high school students in the district. Accordingly, the district has invested in building 16 swimming pools at high schools to ensure that all communes and towns have swimming pools (8 pools at primary schools, 8 pools at junior high schools), also teaches 100% of primary and secondary school students from 8 years old and more.

Expanding mass sports activities

In recent years, Thanh Tri district has continued to promote the implementation of the movement “All people practice body following the great Uncle Ho’s example”. Currently, in the district, there are about 30 clubs and mass art teams with a total membership of over 200 people and nearly 80 sports clubs established and maintained regularly at the Center of Culture, Information and Sports, Village Culture Houses, residential groups. The average number of mass cultural activities is 336 lessons per year; the number of sports activities is about 514 lessons per year. Sports clubs operate regularly, attracting thousands of members to participate.

In which, the 6th Thanh Tri District Sports Festival 2013 organized 15 sports with 490 sets of prizes for subjects from Kindergarten to the Elderly; attracted over 3,000 participants. The 9th Thanh Tri District Sports Festival 2017 organized 16 sports with 570 sets of prizes with over 3,500 participants.

In addition to the investment in facilities, Thanh Tri district has developed and implemented the project “Development of high-achieving sports in Thanh Tri district for the period 2010-2015” focusing on key subjects: Karatedo, Pencaksilat, athletics, football and swimming, striving for 1-2 sports to always achieve top results in the city, 1-2 sports to achieve good results. Every year, the district has athletes participating and winning many medals at the city, national and international sports tournaments.

Up to now, the district has completed the construction of 13 of 15 Centers of Culture, Information and Sports and sports training grounds in the communes. 100% of communes and towns organize safe swimming programs to prevent drowning and teach children to swim; 50% of communes and towns have free outdoor practice sites; 100% of hamlets, villages and residential groups have sports clubs operating regularly; 70% of young people aged 16-18 regularly practice a suitable sport.

According to statistics, currently, 45% of Thanh Tri people participate in regular sports practice, the percentage of families who regularly practice sports in the district reaches 35%. In addition, Thanh Tri’s sports teams participating in city and national competitions in recent years have won 597 medals of all kinds, including 404 gold medals.

In the coming time, the district will closely follow and fully, seriously implement the master plan on development of physical training and sports in Thanh Tri district up to 2030; concretize by plans for each year, each period (2 years, 5 years) to organize the synchronous implementation of solutions; in addition, improve the role of state management in sports of all levels and authorities from the district to the grassroots; bring into play the bright spots in the implementation of sports activities in the district.

Also, decentralize management, create a flexible mechanism, expand the autonomy for non-business units, generate revenue, and move towards financial autonomy; transfer of specific operational activities to non-public units and organizations to perform, on the basis of compliance with current legal provisions. There is a plan to train and improve the qualifications of physical training and sports staff to really be the core of the mass sports movement at the grassroots level; in addition, facilitate organizations and individuals to participate in physical training and sports activities in the spirit of equality before the law, and to enjoy favorable treatment and reward policies of the State.
