Just entering the age of 20, Archery Do Thi Anh Nguyet has successfully put her name at many tournaments at home and in the region. “Olympic Tokyo is a major arena which has brought an abundance of helpful experiences as well as lessons for me to continue dreaming for my own peak” She shared.
Surprised at the victories
Not being a hereditary player and just a very “new entry”, having been chosen to practice the archery sport for nearly 2 years, surprisingly Do Thi Anh Nguyet has continuously gained the success of 51 gold medals, 19 silver medals, 18 bronze medals at the national tournaments and a number of championships in Asian region. The first gold medal she got was at the National Outstanding Archery Championships-in March 2018, when she was only 17.

From such a debut, entering 18, she had broke a national record of 30m one-string archery content and contributed actively to achieving the title of first-rank entire group for Ha Noi team at the national tournaments. Asides from that this 18-year-old girl had also been accreditted at Asia Archery Championships in November 2019 with a bronze medal and a gold medal for the entire group content at SEA Games 30-in December 2019. Early Spring 2020, she “started the new year” by being able to snatch a silver medal at Asia Archery Cup held in March in Thailand. And when she reached full age of 20, Do Thi Anh Nguyen had obtained 6 gold medals out of the total 15 gold medals of the entire team), 1 silver medal and 1bronze medal at the National Outstanding Archery Tourament. Remarkably, she was one of the two Viet Nam archeries representing at Olympic Tokyo 2020. With these credits, in 2018 she had an honour to receive the Cirtificate of Commendment form the Chairman of Ha Noi People’s Committee for having outstandingly performed at the 8th National Sports Congress. In 2019, she also received the Cirtificate of Commendment from the Prime Minister, Viet Nam Union of Women’s Associations and Ha Noi Union of Women’s Associations for the gold medal she achieved at SEA Games 30. “I am so glad with such achievements, as after 2 years of great efforts I have made, eventually I have got the results which I have never thought of before. I am very happy with that”. – She said.
Trying to move forward
Coming to the home of Ha Noi sports, after two month trial, she had been contracted to the women volleyball team. Having thoughts that she would have been trained to become a volleyball player. But it was not the case, as when she was surprised to hear the request to change to the archery team. “I was rather sad, even want to cry out when I was called out for a change discussion. However, after listening to the trainer explaning carefully of the reasons, I had agreed”. She recalled the turning point at her age of 16.

Anh Nguyet has always been trying her best to overcome hardships, ups and downs in her life and career so as not let her family be worried, and to show her decision made at the age of 15 was right.
