In the context of the complicated Covid-19 pandemic, given the difficulties and hardships of the frontline force, right from the beginning days of implementing the Directive No. 17 of the City People’s Committee on social distancing for preventing and controlling the Covid-19 pandemic, the Red Cross, the Women’s Union of Phuc Lam commune, in collaboration with the departments, agencies, and mass organizations, has raised donations from people to make meals for the frontline force who are on duty at the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control checkpoints and also officials, doctors, nurses, and other medical specialists in the commune.

Members often make about 50-100 meal servings for lunch and dinner every day and directly deliver them to officers and soldiers on duty at checkpoints and doctors, nurses, and other medical specialists working at communal health stations.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ve, a member of the logistics team said that, to make various rich and nutritious meal servings, we have to review the menu of the previous days, then make a menu for the subsequent day and go to the market to buy food in the morning. While going to the market, we always comply with regulations on pandemic prevention and control. We would like to make a small contribution to supporting the frontline force on duty at the checkpoint and join hands in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Women’s Union of Phuc Lam commune has assigned 6 branches of the women’s unions in the commune to take turns going to the market to buy food and making meals every day. The branches select households with spacious and clean spaces to be the place for making meals. Many branches even register to make meals for 3-5 consecutive days.

Ms. Le Thi Hong, the Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of Phuc Lam Commune said from the very first start, to finance the meal-making for free, the commune has raised funds of almost VND 100 million so far from officials, party members, and people. Members often make about 50-100 meal servings for lunch and dinner every day. Up to now, nearly 2,000 meal servings have been directly delivered to officers and soldiers on duty at checkpoints and doctors, nurses, and other medical specialists at communal health stations.

In addition to the main meals, the women and people of Phuc Lam commune also volunteered to make night meals and directly donated money and necessities such as cakes, sweets, soft drinks, etc. to the checkpoints.

The meals were delivered to officers and soldiers on duty at the checkpoints and the doctors, nurses, and other medical specialists at the communal health station.

The donation and support activities of people are carefully recorded and updated daily, then praised on the communal radio station, and shared on social media like Facebook, Zalo, receiving the widespread and enthusiastic response of the people.

The meal servings demonstrating the people’s love and support are daily delivered to the frontline force in the fight against the pandemic. The practical and meaningful actions of staff, members, and people of Phuc Lam commune show their sense of responsibility and dedication for the community, timely encourage, share, and strengthen the frontline force in the fight against the pandemic, and contribute to, in collaboration with the Party committees and local authorities, joining hands in preventing and repelling the Covid-19 pandemi
