The achievement of the Second Prize is a testament to Thuong Tin District’s commitment to preserving and promoting a reading culture within the community, injecting enthusiasm among library officials to further ignite a passion for books across various segments of the population.
The Hanoi City’s 1st Excellent Librarian Competition 2023, organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, aimed to honor those excelling in library work, showcasing expertise, dynamism, innovation, and a genuine love for the profession. It also served as an occasion for library officials citywide to engage, learn, and exchange professional experiences, emphasizing the role of books, newspapers, and libraries in societal life, cultivating reading habits, and fostering the development of a reading culture within the community.

This year’s competition featured 16 teams, with over 300 library officials participating. Teams underwent three sections: Greetings, Propagation Skills, and Knowledge.
Following a vibrant day of competition, Hanoi City’s 1st Excellent Librarian Competition 2023 concluded magnificently. The Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to Tay Ho District, Dong Anh District, and Son Tay Town; the Second Prize to Thuong Tin District, Cau Giay District, Ha Dong District, Hoan Kiem District, Hai Ba Trung District, and Hoang Mai District; the remaining seven teams received the Third Prize.

Thuong Tin District team participated in the Greetings segment with a musical performance. Thuong Tin ascended beneath the Party flag, introducing Thuong Tin District as the “Land of Prestige – Land of Achievements,” vigorously developing to soon become a district within the capital city of Hanoi. This was coupled with the presentation of notable achievements by the Thuong Tin District Library, actively contributing to the development of the reading movement to enhance the cultural and spiritual life of residents in the region.
Presently, the Thuong Tin District Library houses 13,700 volumes covering various genres such as literature, psychology, medicine, social sciences, and children’s literature, catering to diverse readers. Over the last two years (2022 and 2023), the library has served 5,850 individuals and 6,570 books, issuing and renewing 480 library cards. Across library branches, the district’s library system boasts 112 shelves with a document capital of 97,500 volumes, serving 70,258 individuals and 160,950 books, with 5,150 cards issued.
Securing the Second Prize acknowledges the endeavors of Thuong Tin District in preserving and promoting a reading culture within the community, empowering library officials with added fervor in their journey to spread the love for books among the people.
