In following the Directives No. 01-CT/UBND dated Jan. 02, 2014 issued by Hanoi City People’s Committee on a “Year of urban order and civilization” and No. 08/CT-TU dated May 26, 2016 of Hanoi City Party Committee on “Strengthening the direction and management of the compliance with regulations on urban order and civilization in Hanoi city”, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward entered into an emulation agreement with the Ward People’s Committee, socio-political organizations, in combination with the improvement of quality of the campaign “All people jointly build new rural areas and civilized urban areas”. To do so, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, on the one hand, focuses on building a civilized urban lifestyle by improving standards on a “Cultured Family”, a “Cultured Residential Quarter”, on the other hand, coordinates with People’s Committee in raising awareness of people on having a civilized urban lifestyle and keeping the residential place clean and beautiful.
In 2017, functional forces of the People’s Committee, and Ward Police had actively inspected and handled violations of regulation on urban order & environmental sanitation. The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward had directed the Working Committees to actively raise awareness of people. These are some regulations for road-side houses: not to encroach on sidewalks for trading purposes, to arrange adequate parking lot for their vehicles, to leave way to pedestrians, to take out rubbish at designated time and place, and to maintain sanitation and protect environment. In the process of implementation, the ward has chosen residential area 5 as the focal point. The Executive Committee, the Working Committee, and the Committee in charge of building Cultural Lifestyle in area 5 have regularly propagated, educated and raised awareness of residents, especially the street-side households.
The delegation directs business households not to encroach on sidewalk
Results of the Ward’s Emulation Movement 2017 are as follows: residential groups 5A and 5B were recognized as “Cultured residential group”, and more than 92% of households were recognized as “Cultured family”. Ward’s economic condition has been stable without any household regarded as poor families or families living in difficult economic condition. The cultural life and environmental condition have been improved. Residents live in harmony and actively participate in local activities, campaigns and patriotic emulation movements. Residential area 5 is the good example of the ward for other groups to follow, contributing to the effective implementation of the campaign “All people jointly build new rural areas and civilized urban areas.”
Residential place should be maintained in good hygiene condition
Thanks to the determination and effort of the management system, the appearance of residential area 5 has been significantly improved. Small markets and trading areas at Han Thuyen – Lo Duc 5-way intersection, which considerably affect the urban order condition of the ward, are removed. Accordingly, the street-side households no longer arbitrarily encroach on sidewalk for trading purposes; vehicles are arranged properly; way are left for pedestrians; and the whole area is cleaner and more beautiful.
