Vietnamese Sports Delegation to ASIAD 19 Comprises 504 Members

Recently, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung signed Decision No. 2494/QD-BVHTTDL regarding the establishment of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation participating in the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 19) in China.

The delegation will be led by Mr. Dang Ha Viet, Director of the Sports Authority of Vietnam, as the Head of the delegation. The two Deputy Heads are Mr. Hoang Quoc Vinh, Head of the High Achievement Sports Department 1, and Mr. Ngo Ich Quan, Head of the High Achievement Sports Department 2.

In this edition of ASIAD 19, Vietnam will be represented by 22 sports teams, 11 experts, and 90 coaches, supporting 337 athletes competing across 31 disciplines.

The Vietnamese Sports Delegation is categorized into three groups for the ASIAD 19 competitions. The first group includes sports such as Chinese chess, sepak takraw, shooting, karate, cycling, weightlifting, and archery. The second group consists of swimming, athletics, rowing, canoeing, table tennis, chess, badminton, gymnastics, roller sports, boxing, taekwondo, wrestling, wushu, judo, kurash, jujitsu, and fencing. The third group encompasses volleyball, football, golf, badminton, softball tennis, esports, and breaking.

The Vietnamese Sports Delegation is set to depart on September 20, with some events commencing before or after the official start. Mr. Dang Ha Viet, who was also the Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 32nd  SEA Games, led the delegation to secure the overall champion title.

Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang, selected by the General Department of Physical Education and Sports, will carry the flag for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the opening ceremony of ASIAD 19. Vietnam’s sports goal for this Games is to achieve between 2 to 5 gold medals.
