Promoting the spirit of volunteering, creativity, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Thuong Tin district has implemented many practical activities for the community, contributing positively to the local socio -economic development over past years.

Volunteer activities for community life have been widely deployed by district unions, attracting the active participation of young people in the area. In the past 5 years, the Youth Union at all levels of Thuong Tin district has implemented 538 projects with value over 20 billion VND; established 22 youth volunteer squads for community life with over 700 members ; coordinated with other organizations to organize 65 voluntary blood donation sessions, attracting more than 15,000 union members and young people to participate and collecting 9,895 units of safe blood; donated to support the people in the Central region affected by storms and floods with the value of more than 300 million VND; coordinated with other organizations to give gifts to people in Dinh Ban commune, Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province with a total value of gifts and goods worth nearly 400 million VND, etc.

In particular, in the face of the complicated situation of the COVID-19 epidemic, the District Youth Union has directed the Sub-Unions of 29 communes and towns to implement many practical activities, contributing to the success of epidemic prevention and control in the area: Organized the mobile propaganda campaigns on COVID-19 disease prevention and control; donated 1,300 masks, 70 bottles of antiseptics, 200 soap bars, 20 protective suits to frontline units against epidemics in the district; at the same time, implemented 7 on-field handwashing projects with a total value of VND 50 million. The Sub-Unions of 29 communes and towns organized more than 300 environmental cleaning sessions, distributed over 50,000 leaflets, 85,500 masks and 5,500 bottles of antiseptics and soaps free of charge to the people to prevent and control the epidemic. The district union has launched a movement to make splash shields to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic to elementary and Secondary schools in the district. As a result, more than 3,600 splash shields were made; mobilized to support necessities and cash worth more than 300 million VND to be delivered to frontline units against the epidemic; directed the Sub-Unions of communes and towns to mobilize youth union members to support the district and local COVID-19 disease control checkpoints, and visited and gave more than 700 gifts worth more than (100 million VND) for on-duty forces, students with difficult circumstances. In order to support students with difficult circumstances, the Youth Union – Thuong Tin District military Council has launched the Program “Study online with you (Cùng em học trực tuyến)”. The program has received 19 smart devices (worth 120 million VND), helping students with difficult circumstances not to have their studies interrupted when the whole city deploys online learning to prevent and control the epidemic..
Youth union members and young people participated in environmental cleaning and landscape beautification
Youth unions from the district to the grassroots also actively implemented the renovation, upgrading and installation of equipment at playgrounds for young people and children in the area. Thanks to funds and working days of youth union members, playgrounds have been inaugurated in many localities, creating good conditions for organizing cultural events, community activities, creating playgrounds and a healthy environment for union members, young people and children to improve their spiritual and cultural life. In addition, the unions at all levels completed many works of “Murals”, planted trees and mounted the signboard of the project “Youth’s row of trees”, etc., contributing to beautify the environment of new rural areas. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, unions at all levels organized many practical activities, such as repairing and visiting martyrs’ cemeteries; visiting, giving gifts, providing free medical examination and medicine to families under preferential policies and people with meritorious services, etc.
With solidarity, creativity and responsibility, the young people of Thuong Tin district has continued the tradition of the heroic district and famous land, actively contributing to the development of the locality. Young people’s activities in the area are recognized and highly appreciated by the People, both affirming the pioneering spirit in taking on new and difficult jobs, meeting urgent needs of society, and spreading in the community about spirit of joining hands to contribute to building a more beautiful and civilized homeland.
