In 2018, the Youth Union of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports is expected to continue the success obtained in 2017 with the spirit of continuous innovation and creativity to create new milestones for Youth Union missions.
For the benefit of the community
Looking back at 2017, the Youth Union of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports obtained huge achievements, leaving a good impression among members, the youth, and the community with many practical activities that were filled with humanist values. In providing understanding of history, the Youth Union of the Department guided the branches to organize visits and hold political activities in historical and cultural relics and places associated with the life of President Ho Chi Minh, and to learn about the thoughts, ethics, and behaviors of President Ho Chi Minh. In particular, the most impressive program was to the Candle Light Tribute program for the heroes and martyrs in the relic site of Hoa Lo Prison, which helped raise the sense of responsibility among young officers and civil servants within the sector for them to contribute more actively to the construction and protection of the capital city and the country.
In the past year, the Youth Union mission also aimed at creating a competition among young officers and civil servants in studying and improving skills and in training professional kills. Specifically, the Youth Union of the Department actively advised and created mechanisms and conditions for young officers to promote creativity and activeness in learning and researching. Accordingly, many young officers directly assumed additional tasks, topics or registered for overtime working, received additional assignments, and solved quickly and efficiently arising problems.

Voluntary work for social security was also a prominent part of the Youth Union mission by Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in 2017, with the charity program in Nam Pham Commune (Muong La District, Son La Province) whereby hundreds of gifts were given to flood victims who lost their homes. The art performing program held in the flood areas was also a gift of spiritual meaning that helped raise hope and spirit of overcoming difficulties to the people. Most recently, on the occasion of the 2018 Lunar New Year, the Youth Union organized a volunteer program to visit and give 5 presents to 5 members with extremely difficult living condition. In 2017, the Department’s Youth Union mobilized 46 members to participate in blood donation. Through the voluntary programs and activities, the Department’s Youth Union has left a good impression and humanist values in the community by the sincere, voluntary sharing of each member and young officer.

With the spirit of creativity and innovation, the Department’s Youth Union provided specific models to response to the movement of “I love Hanoi” by the Hanoi Youth Union, including improvement of the social environment, establishment of modern local branches, prevention of social evils, and setting up and maintain of volunteer teams who participate in urban order and urban landscape protection in the capital city. The members of the teams also cooperated with the Department’s Office for Cultural Management to launch periodic and unscheduled inspections and report findings and proposals to handle violations of advertising banner installation in all districts of Hanoi.
According to statistics, in 2017, the Department’s Youth Union also held several activities to confirm the role of the Youth Union in building the Party with 7 members being recognized as official Party members, eight elite members admitted to the Party, and 16 members sent to Party sympathy classes. With the achievements and outstanding imprints, in 2017, the Youth Union of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports was honored to receive the Certificate of Merit by the Central Youth Union and continued to hold the title of the leading local Youth Union branch among Hanoi city’s state authorities.

Stimulation of the spirit of innovation and creativity
In continuing with the slogan “Innovation and creativity”, right from the first months of 2018 and especially in the peak Youth month of this year, the Department’s Youth Union organized an art performing program to send the new recruits to enlist in Chuong My District, Hanoi. The program has left impression and received appreciation by contributing to providing the timely encouragement to new recruits on their journey to fulfill the military service obligation. Also in March, the Youth Union organized a conference on solutions to build the Beauty of Offices and cooperated with the Youth Union of the 371st Division of the Air and Air Defense Force to hole a Youth Union gala in celebration of the founding day of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
In the coming time, the Department’s Youth Union will carry out the key tasks, especially the launch activities for the “Green, Clean, Beautiful Hanoi” program and the activities to learn about the relic site of Hoa Lo prison. In addition, the Department’s Youth Union will also cooperate with the Youth Union branches of other authorities of the city to organize mass art performing programs for children and the youth and cooperate with Hanoi Youth Union to organize the city-level Youth Union Sports Event. During the summer, the 2018 Young Volunteer Summer Campaign will have several volunteer activities for the community i.e. mobilizing Youth Union members to donate blood, etc.
