To follow the announcement of leaders of Hanoi People’s Committee at the meeting of considering the decoration of ornamental plants for the celebration of 88 years of establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam (03/02/1930 – 03/02/2018) and the Lunar New Year in 2018, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has just issued the plan of pilot organization of the “Decoration of flowers and ornamental trees” contest” in Hanoi in 2018.
The contest is meaningful for all citizens to raise their awareness, actively participate in environmental protection, plant more trees and flowers.
Accordingly, the decoration contest this year was piloted in the districts within the city. Each district selected a decorative route to beautify the landscape of the capital on the occasion of Lunar New Year, contributing environmental protection, building the green, clean, beautiful, civilized, modern and eco-friendly urban lifestyle. It is meaningful for all citizens to gradually raise their awareness, plant trees and flowers in a spirit of voluntariness, a responsible community and widespread propaganda; to propagate and encourage people in the area to participate in the contest with the motto: “Each family plants a flower tree for Lunar New Year” to contribute to the “All people unite to build the cultural life” movement.
Contest time: from the ninth to twenty first of February 21, 2018 (i.e, from the 24th of lunar December to the 6th of the lunar January). The funds was approved by People’s Committees of districts and mobilized from socialized sources.
As a coordinating body, Hanoi City Ornamental Creatures Association has proposed 5 criteria including layout, content, color, creativity and presentation for scoring and evaluating the decorated streets to the Organization Board and relevant agencies for reference.

The organizing and implementing units wishes that the contest create the great diffusion to form the movement of all people in the decoration of flowers, ornamental plants, ensuring the criteria of “green, clean and beautiful” purpose, solemnness, cost effectiveness, traffic safety and harmony, creating the new face for the capital in spring and congratulating Party, Spring, country and the capital in renovation period. It is also the practical response to “Tree planting tradition for Uncle Ho’s favor” towards the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s mobilization for tree planting tradition (November 28, 1959 to November 28, 2019).
