In recent years, the Women’s Union of Hoang Mai district has had many practical jobs to make the alleys, streets and residential areas of the district brighter, green, clean and beautiful.
In March 2021, the Women’s Union of Hoang Mai district launched the contest “Flower roads and streets”, which has sparked a movement to build roads and streets with flowers in the district, making the urban face of Hoang Mai district more bright, green, beautiful and cleaner. In addition, the Women’s Union also launched the movement “Hoang Mai Women with Sunday environmental day”, to welcome the Congress of women deputies at all levels, term 2021-2026. Not only that, but the Women’s Union of Hoang Mai district also organizes to remove the garbage, makes flower paths, paint murals, build playgrounds with flowers, etc. Up to now, 14 of 14 wards all have roads and streets with flowers, with a total of thousands of meters in length.
Tay Tra Street, Tran Phu Ward is an example. Here, the District Women’s Union organized a campaign to paint murals on electric poles, contributing to overcoming the situation of illegal advertising and classifieds, and beautifying the streets. The embellishment and beautification of public spaces by the women have received the response and praise of the People.
Many years ago, the Nguyen Khoai dike running through Thanh Tri ward was always a black spot for construction waste. Over the past 3 years, thanks to the support of the Party Committee and People’s Committee of Thanh Tri Ward, hundreds of people and members of the Ward Women’s Union have cleaned up together, removed the black spots, and planted flowers and grass on the road of about 2km long.
The Women’s Union of Dinh Cong ward has the initiative to paint murals and install stone chairs at lane 307, Bui Xuong Trach street. This is a 700m long alley with mossy, peeling walls. The women of the ward do their own work; assign each other to do cleaning and painting. In 2 weeks, they beautified the alley with murals bearing messages about environmental protection, etc.
In July 2021, in the exciting atmosphere of emulation to set up many achievements to celebrate the great holidays of the capital and the country, the Women’s Union of Hoang Mai district organized a signboard of the project “flower playground” in Hoang Van Thu Ward. This nearly 200m2 playground is originally an environmental hotspot of Hoang Van Thu ward. It took 30 large trucks, transporting more than 20 tons of garbage; this land has been cleared and renovated into a public play area with beautiful flower baskets and beds. In the yard of the Women’s Union, there are sports machines for women and play equipment for children. Walls around the courtyard are decorated with vibrant frescoes.

The practical work by the Women’s Union of Hoang Mai district not only makes the urban appearance of the district brighter, green, cleaner and more beautiful but also contributes to spreading the awareness of environmental protection among officers, women and all classes of people in the area.
